There is a problem in my neighborhood with dogs running loose. I can keep my dog under control by holding the leash up close to his collar and focus him on walking ahead. I stay calm, but would like your input on how to deter the loose dogs?

Training the family dog can be straight forward, but sometimes there is a power struggle between family members, and seems to get in the way of helping the animal. If all members of the household need to be on board with training/communication to communicate with the animal, what would your advice be to make this a happy, healthy family living with a dog. Do we need to understand Freud to train the family dog?

I think my pitbull has seperation anxiety or just brain damage:). Everytime I leave the house I come home to find something new torn up an most likely destroyed. He use to be aggressive towards other dogs in the neighbo hood so I have to keep him contained. The underground system around my fenced yard wont keep him away from the fence.I moved him indoors during the day but with or without the other dogs with him he breaks doors and windows to get out. I tried a 10X10 chain kennel and he ate his way out...serveral times. I had to privacy fence my back yard and put electric fence around it....but he chews, eats, scratches, and tears his way through vinyl siding, insulation, house skirting, metal water heater sheds, and wooden gates. This is only a brief describtion of his damage. I try supplying toys, music, and other dog company to help his problem but nothing has seemed to help. It has got to the point were I cant afford to continue to fix things and feel the dog should go. I feel he needs better training. I dont know what to do. I cant give someone else my problem dog and I cant euthanize him just for bad behavior. What do I do????????????
